| About this piece: As children we have all experienced certain foods that bring us comfort. Often in adulthood these foods can actually bring back childhood feelings and memories. Top Ramen soup was always a touchstone for me as a child and in this piece I use a halo and aura to convey the Christlike status something as simple as noodles can achieve in a child's mind. This piece took an especially long time to create because of the level of detail in the ramen. Each 4” x 4” section of noodles took three hours to complete. Comfort Food won the People's Choice Best in Show award at the Heaven on Earth exhibition, 2007. |
