About this piece:
This piece is about my stepmother who recently lost a lengthy battle with brain cancer. During her illness her body was compromised, but her spirit never seemd to fail. She always remained positive and her determination was an inspiration to all who knew her. In this piece I’m using black and white in the figure to convey an absence of energy in a previously healthy body. The mood around the figure, however, is light and bright like the sun. Despite her illness, my stepmom always kept her sunny side up.
